CORE Physical Therapy is excited to introduce the newest member to our Fitness and Wellness Department, Frank Lopez. Like all our trainers, Frank started out working side-by-side with our physical therapists to increase his knowledge in body mechanics. All our trainers have Kinesiology degrees with an emphasis on Physical Health and/or Strength & Conditioning. At CORE Physical Therapy, we ensure that our patients and clients are in the right hands prior to referring them to our programs. Unfortunately, too often people affiliate movement with sweaty exercise that causes them pain or unpleasantness. This should definitely not be the case. Body movement is essential to humans due to its many benefits. In addition to the vanity aspect of helping you look better, there are also the following benefits that most people forget:

  1. Improves mood- regular exercise has shown to decrease feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress.

  2. Beneficial to bones and muscles- regular exercise can build bone density in the young and help to prevent/slow osteoporosis in later life.

  3. Chronic conditions- regular exercise is a great way to manage most chronic medical conditions, which can help to eliminate unnecessary medications and surgeries. Chronic pain can be debilitating and exercise is a great way to minimize the discomfort.

  4. Brain Health- regular exercise has shown to improve brain function and protect memory thinking skills

  5. Sleep- regular exercise can help you to relax and get a better night’s sleep.

  6. Sex- regular exercise has proven to boost sex drive.

  7. Energy- regular exercise is a great way to boost your energy. Six weeks of regular exercise has shown a reduction in fatigue and provides you the energy to go on with your daily activities.

Frank Lopez, one of our fitness trainer at CORE Physical Therapy says:

"I love the transitional wellness program here at CORE because many patients tend to finish their physical therapy, stop their program and regress to square one. CORE encourages patients who graduate from physical therapy to join our fitness and wellness programs. I especially like the collaboration between the therapists and the fitness team to design a next level program in our patients’ best interest. The best gift a person can give to themselves is to just ‘get up and move.’ "
